When you're feeling like you're in a failing marriage, you feel wore down and maybe hopeless. Just because your marriage isn't the best it can be right now, that doesn't have to mean that it's headed for divorce! You're just going through some rough times, and you CAN make it through this, with shining colors!

Especially now, marriages are stresses. You won't find many marriages that aren't hurting in one way or another. But you WILL find couples that learn how to get through these hard times, and they bounce back, and have stronger marriages because of it.

Don't Wait!

Don't wait for it to get worse! As soon as you realize that something is going wrong with your marriage, you should take action and make things right. If you wait, your problems are just going to get worse and worse. (And, yes, they can get much worse, although it doesn't feel like it right now!)

Someone has to take the first step, and if your spouse hasn't already done so, then they probably aren't going to. It doesn't have to be hard to do this, just remind yourself that if someone doesn't take a stand and do something, your marriage IS going to fail. It is a lot easier to save a failing marriage than it is to go through divorce proceedings!

How often do you talk to your spouse?

Sometimes couples are too busy to talk to each other. If you can relate, then it's time to make a change. Find the time to talk to each other. Didn't you talk when you were dating?

You don't have to talk about serious things at first, just talk about anything you want. Simply talking to each other every day will bring the two of you closer together again.

Are you an instigator?

When relationships are under stress, the couple tends to nag at each other, or argue alot. If you often find yourself complaining or nagging at your spouse, try to turn it around. Say positive things, give them a compliment once in a while. If they do something to help you, be sure to thank them.

When we say negative things, we get negative responses. When we start being positive, we soon get positive responses.

Try these very small changes in your marriage. See if they turn things around, even if just a little bit. You may be surprised how such a tiny thing can make such a big change in a marriage!
